Indoor Method uses a measurement-first research process designed to turn vague home-comfort complaints into questions that can actually be investigated.
The Indoor Method
1. Observe
We start with the pattern: what changed, where the problem occurs, when it appears, and what makes it better or worse.
2. Measure
We identify the few measurements that can meaningfully narrow the possibilities. That might include temperature, relative humidity, dew point, HVAC runtime, CO₂, particulate levels, or simple airflow observations.
3. Understand
We compare the observations with building-science principles, HVAC behavior, product documentation, and authoritative guidance. We distinguish likely explanations from confirmed diagnoses.
4. Fix
We prioritize low-risk, high-value actions first. If a problem requires tools, access, licensing, or professional judgment beyond a reasonable homeowner check, we say so.
Source hierarchy
Not every article needs the same research stack. When the subject calls for it, we prioritize primary documentation and authoritative technical sources over recycled summaries. Secondary sources can add context, but they do not replace the underlying evidence.
Product research
When products are discussed, we look at the problem they are meant to solve, the relevant specifications, practical limitations, installation or operating requirements, and the alternatives. We do not treat a higher price, a longer feature list, or a popular brand as proof that a product is the better answer.
